Tiger Island

Can you imagine coming face-to-face with the jungle’s most fearsome predator? Here on Tiger Island, we make it possible. As part of our conservation work with DWF, our tigers are ambassadors for their cousins in the wild, as we work towards protecting the species. Be mesmerised by their grace as you watch them glide underwater at the splash pool and feel in awe of their brute strength at feeding time. And if you feel hungry afterwards, sink your own teeth into an Asian-style feast at the island’s restaurant. So venture down to get up close and personal with the Animal Kingdom’s largest cats as they prowl the grounds. See our tigers play during the daily Tiger Presentations at 12.00pm and 3.30pm.

This truly unique experience will get you up close to our adorable tiger cubs, Melati and Mya, and will give you the chance to learn about the plight of wild tigers from our experienced tiger handlers. Your VIP Tiger Cub Ultimate Experience will include the chance to have your photo taken with the cubs and a gift bag including your photos as a keepsake. The 20-minute experience is open to up to 20 guests per session.

Tiger Island Up Close

The much-anticipated Tiger Island Up Close experience forms part of the multi-million-dollar makeover of Tiger Island delivered in late 2016. Up Close features viewing tunnels into the enclosure which children can crawl through and large viewing areas, some with mesh, where you can get so close, you could feel the breath of a tiger. The area includes a unique interactive program, including tiger walks, feeds and photos with a percentage of money from these experiences going to global tiger conservation.

Saving Tigers

In the wild, tigers face a grim future.

Tigers are one of the most endangered species on the planet according to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Fauna and Flora (CITES).

There are approximately 4,000 tigers remaining in the wild and their survival is constantly threatened.

With three subspecies already extinct, the plight of the tiger is a serious problem largely caused by humans in three major ways: hunting, poaching and destruction of the habitat.

At the current rate of poaching and habitat loss, it is estimated that tigers in the wild could completely disappear within the next ten years.
